This is a young gymnast that we are working with. Strength is the goal right now to get to the next level. This is a great example of a modification we can make to perfect single leg squat mechanics. The slide ads a little bit of stability so balance is not as necessary. We can then focus on depth and alignment. She’s doing an awesome job!

One of the most important things to look at if you’re coaching a trap bad dead lift is to make sure that the hips and the shoulders continue to rise in unison. When the weight gets too heavy, you’ll see the hips rise first and then the shoulders second. That starts to apply too much force and pressure into the low back. The goal is to keep both parts moving together!
